The gestures incorporated in this app are: finger drag, split-tap, double tap, single finger flick right/left, and three-finger flick right/left. The popular Tap-tap song motivates even reluctant learners to successfully master the important ‘double tap’, tapping along with the rhythm. In line with the story of the cute Ballylanders who practice their ‘magic’ tricks, your student gradually builds ‘magic’ VoiceOver finger gesture skills, leading up to the Grand Finale: the Magic Show will only go ahead if the student takes charge and effectively performs the practiced gestures – a great way for you to assess a student’s progress!

Partners in Rhyme helps children have fun through rhyme. It helps young children come to understand that words are composed of separate sounds, called phonemes. Eventually, they will see that these sounds are paired with letters and can be used to make words.
Children need phonemic awareness training to help them understand that words are made up of sounds. Learning to recognize rhyming patterns in language is an essential skill literacy skill for emergent readers. A number of longitudinal studies confirm this thesis and indicate that knowledge of rhymes helps children progress in reading once they start school. Research indicates there is a correlation between phonological awareness and reading ability. PARTNERS in RHYME will give your child a great start with rhyming practice to help them become better at phonological awareness.

The road to literacy is based on a foundation that starts with the development of very specific concepts related to language, print awareness and recognition. It is well known that developing concepts about print at an early age is invaluable to a child’s overall literacy development.
The Writing Machine is designed to start introducing your child to these pre-literacy concepts of print, text, reading and writing. The Writing Machine starts this process by introducing how one picture and one word go together. From this foundation, your child will begin to understand additional pre-literacy concepts including how to read text from left to right and to tell words from letters.
The Zones of Regulation (www.zonesofregulation.com) is a framework for thinking as well as a curriculum geared toward helping students gain skills in consciously regulating their behaviors, including the management of their emotions and level of alertness. This, in turn, leads to increased self-control and problem-solving abilities.
Exploring Emotions is based off of the widely adopted framework, The Zones of Regulation, by Leah Kuypers (www.zonesofregulation.com). The framework was published as a curriculum (2011, Social Thinking Publishing, www.socialthinking.com) as well as an original app, both titled The Zones of Regulation.
The Zones of Regulation teaches four concrete colored “zones” to categorize all the feelings, sensory states and emotions we experience, helping students develop an awareness of how they are feeling and by providing a simple language and visual structure to communicate their feelings to others.
In addition, students learn about tools and how they can be used to manage each of their zones. The app helps students gain skills in consciously regulating their behaviors to the social and environmental demands.
